** spoiler alert ** ....boring This book is about a group of friends sharing ghost stories around the fire on Christmas Eve. One tells about a young governess at a country house filled with visitors who have supernatural powers. The young governess can only see the ghosts and she suspects that the previous governess and her lover are controlling the orphaned children for some evil scheme. The staff do not have a clue about her intentions. The chidren are trying to avoid getting caught when questions are asked. The master is always away. The book builds up suspense because the characters fear authority and fear dominant people. The dominant people are interrogating the characters. The techniques are fire, country house.
